Starless Sea
Over black water, I rowed the starless sea.
I dared not gaze into the depths below,
For surely lost I would be.
I remembered not from where I started,
Or when the light left the sky,
Not a single course charted,
But press on I must try.
By the grey moon, I rowed the starless sea.
Dim light peeking through the clouds I wondered,
What is the worth of something like me?
I saw so little,
And felt even less,
My spirit was brittle,
And cried out in distress.
Tears falling from my eyes, I rowed the starless sea.
Was peace waiting under the waves?
To find out was my plea.
Pace slowing with every sweep of the oar,
And before long I sat still.
But then I saw there were more,
Others, too, fighting their will.
Courage renewed, I rowed the starless sea.
There are challenges yet, and danger for sure,
But I could still be free.
Newfound power forging my path,
As I realised what I must do,
I would show that ocean all of my wrath,
No matter how much it grew.
